More info

Common Sage, also called Salvia officinalis in Latin, is a subshrub of the Lamiaceae family.
It is often grown in gardens as a condiment and medicinal plant or simply for the beauty of its foliage and flowers.
Its flowers are purple and open in spring attracting many insects.
Its seeds are round and black, they resemble those of pokeweed.
Its foliage is very aromatic and bluish in color.
This medicinal variety is also called European tea.

Its Latin name is already a sort of diploma of effectiveness from a medical point of view since Salvia comes from the Latin salvare which means to save, to heal.
It is one of the sacred species of the ancients.
The Romans harvested it with a special ceremonial, without the intervention of iron tools.

It is aromatic and decorative.
This variety is grown in light and permeable soil, even rocky, always in full sun like most aromatics such as thymerosemary or savory.

In cooking, its leaves are used as herbs, particularly in marinades and in seasoning game.

In medicine, the beautiful medicinal plant has benefits for the body.
This strain also has varying therapeutic degrees to treat many ailments.

The best time to sow medicinal sage seeds is from April.
It is advisable to let them soak for 12 hours in lukewarm water before cultivating in order to break dormancy.
Then sow them in a box of fine potting soil with a little sand.
Bury them under 3 millimeters of potting soil then water gently with a sprayer.
Finally, place the culture in a warm place with a temperature of at least 25°C.

Its germination will generally begin 3 to 6 weeks after planting.

  • Easy to grow.
  • Requires little maintenance, full sun exposure.
  • Has many virtues.
  • Often used in cooking as an aromatic plant.
  • Untreated and reproducible seeds.

Plante Anti demangeaison

J'utilise la sauge officinale principalement dans la cuisine mais aussi les feuilles fraîches en friction sur les piqûres de moustiques, cela neutralise complètement les démangeaisons.
