More info

Canavalia maritima also called Baybean is a plant native to tropical America.
It is a creeping vine growing mainly on wild beaches.
It likes particularly poor, alkaline, draining and very sunny soils.
Canavalia flowers are pink in color.
Baybean seeds can be pink or brown depending on where they are collected.

Its seeds are toxic, so be very wary of their uses.
They were used during various rituals in pre-Columbian America and Africa.
Nowadays, the leaves are used just like that of Mapacho tobacco for the preparation of blunts.

The best time to sow Canavalia seeds is in June when night temperatures are warm enough.

You must start by very lightly scarifying the seed shell with sandpaper, then leave them to soak for 6 to 12 hours in lukewarm water.
Then plant the seeds under 5 millimeters of well-draining substrate in pots separately.
Finally, water the crop gently then place the pots in a greenhouse to have a temperature close to 30 to 35°c.
Baybean seeds germination will begin 2 to 4 weeks after sowing.

  • Very beautiful pink flowering.
  • Grows very quickly.
  • Untreated reproducible seeds.
  • Has many ethnobotanical uses.

Do not consume without medical advice.
To be cultivated only as an ethnobotanical and shamanic plant.
