Red angel's trumpet also called Brugmansia sanguinea is a small exotic shrub.
It is part of the Solanaceae family.
This red datura is native to South America (Bolivia, Peru).
It grows high in the Andes mountain range up to 3,700 meters above sea level.

It is a shrub 7 m high in its original environment, 2.50 m in mainland France.
Red brugmansia has simple leaves, giving large pendulous flowers 10 to 15 cm long, trumpet-shaped, orange-red at the tip, yellow-green at the base.
It is a cousin of Datura tatulajimsonweed and purple metel.

In the Peruvian Andes, scarlet Brugmansia has been cultivated for millennia to make preparations used to enter a violent trance.


Well-rooted red Brugmansia plant 10 to 25 cm high.

As soon as you receive the plant, plant it in a large 10 liter pot with a horticultural potting soil type substrate.
Pack well then water gently at the base of the plant.

It is also possible to plant the angel's trumpet plant directly in the garden in a sunny location in a mild climate.
Frost-resistant plant, to bring in if winter is too cold in your region.
If there are only small frosts, mulching is possible.
