More info

Yellow pitaya or Selenicereus megalanthus is a cactus from the Cactaceae family that looks very much like the dragon fruit or red pitaya.

It is an epiphytic or lithophytic cactus.
It climbs along tree trunks using its aerial roots.
It is cultivated in the same way as other cacti.

It is cultivated on a large scale by the pharmaceutical industry to extract a substitute for digitalis. (from white foxglove)

The flowering of this cactus is generally nocturnal and takes place in summer.
Its flowers are large ranging from 10 to 30 cm in diameter.
They only open once, from night to dawn, exhaling a powerful fragrance.
Yellow pitaya seeds are black in the shape of a drop of water, they resemble those of the dragon fruit.

Its fruit is known as the yellow pitaya.
It is an excellent white-fleshed fruit that is eaten like a kiwi.
