Description and uses:

White dead nettle, also called Lamium album in Latin, is a plant of the Lamiaceae family.
It is a perennial herbaceous medicinal plant.
It is native to all of Europe and Western Asia.
This plant grows in varied habitats ranging from grassland to wooded areas on moist soils.
Its flowers are white in summer.
Its seeds are small and gray, the size of those of white sage or indian pennywort.

Despite its name white nettle, white nettle is not a true nettle.
It has the particularity of not stinging.
Its young leaves are edible and can be eaten in salads or as vegetables.

The plant is also used in herbal medicine:
The infusion of leaves is traditionally used as an anti-infective for the vaginal mucosa.
the medicinal benefits of its leaves and flowers are astringent, hemostatic and expectorant.

It is also an excellent plant against biological control, it can be planted in association with potatoes because it repels Colorado beetles and improves the taste of potatoes.

Sowing and cultivation:

The period for sowing white dead nettle seeds is from April until the end of May.
Prepare a box of fine horticultural soil, sow the seeds on top without burying them, then water the crop using a sprayer.
Finally, place the box in a greenhouse at a temperature close to 25°C.
Germination of the cutter will begin 2 to 3 weeks after sowing.
