More info

Soapwort or Saponaria officinalis is a herb of the family Caryophyllaceae. (just like xhosa dream plant)
It is a fairly large perennial herb 30 to 80 cm tall.
The soapwort has white flowers sometimes pale pink 2 to 4 cm fragrant.
It is frequently found in cool places.
Soapwort seeds are small in color black, they resemble those of black cumin.

Like soapberry, the flowering tops of soapwort could replace soap to wash delicate clothes that could fade.
It is because it contains a lot of saponin, a substance that has the property of lathering like soap, that the Saponaria officinalis also bears the name of soapwort.

The roots of this soapwort once dried and reduced to powder were used to wash their hands.
Mixed with soda, it could also whiten wools and laces.

Sowing of soapwort seeds:
Sow the seeds of Saponaria officinalis in a box of fine potting soil, cover the seeds with 1 to 2 millimeters of potting soil and then water well using a hand-held sprayer.
Then place the saponaria culture under a mini greenhouse at a temperature close to 22 ° C.
Soapwort seeds usually germinate after 2 to 3 weeks.

  • Produces a 100% ecological and organic soap.
  • Fragrant white flowers.
  • Rapid growth.

also exists as a live plant for sale to plant.
