More info

Baby kiwi or hardy kiwi also called Actinidia arguta in Latin or issai is a climbing plant of the Actinidiaceae family.
This fruit plant is native to the Far East.
It's mainly cultivated for its edible fruits.
It's the most cold-resistant baby kiwi variety.
Its flowers are white with 5 petals.
Mini kiwi seeds are brown in color and look a lot like those of white sage.
Leaves of issai are thick and fluffy like those of the common kiwi.
Baby kiwi can withstand winter cold down to -25°C, making it ideal for the European climate.

This little kiwi needs well-draining soil that is not too chalky.
For pollination, it is necessary to plant a few male feet.
For this, it is best to plant seeds to have the two different sexes.
It is necessary to provide a solid support like all climbing plants, a trellis, wire mesh will be perfect.

Sowing hardy kiwi seeds:

To begin with, it is best to stratify the seeds before germination.
Then, sow the issai seeds in a box made from sand and fine horticultural compost.
Finally, place the culture in a greenhouse at a temperature of 25 to 30°C.
Germination of mini kiwi will begin after 4 to 6 weeks.
