Nepeta cataria, commonly known as catnip, catswort, or catmint, is a species of the genus Nepeta in the Lamiaceae family.
Catnip is native to southern and eastern Europe, the Middle East, central Asia, and parts of China.
Nepeta cataria is a short lived herbaceous perennial, growing 50–100 centimetres tall and wide.
Nepeta cataria can be brewed to produce an herbal tea Also used as a culinary herb for many dishes.
Catnip can also be ingested through smoking the herb.
It has a negligible effect of relaxation like most other "herbal" cigarettes.
Catnip contains the feline attractant nepetalactone.
Nepeta cataria is known for their behavioral effects on the cat family, not only on domestic cats but also other species of cats.
Sowing of catnip seeds:
Sow your catnip seeds, Cat grass in lots of 4 to 5 in pots separately and then water with a sprayer in order not to spread the seeds of Nepeta cataria.
Next, place your catnip pots in a warm place and let germinate.
When the Nepeta cataria seedling are 10 cm long, change the size of the pot or plant them directly in the ground.
