Golden chain tree or Laburnum watereri is native to Central and Southern Europe.
This tree is native to the Alps and the mountain of Italy and the Balkans down to Albania.
It has naturalised itself in various localised places in Britain.

Before we had a huge range of woodstains, the heart-wood of this plant was often used as an Ebony substitute since it is very hard and a dark chocolate brown.
The sapwood is butter-yellow.

Golden chain tree plant is very toxic: especially fruit ingestion which can be fatal.
It contains alkaloids, the action of which is similar to that of nicotine contained in tobacco.
In Germany, this leaves were consumed as tobacco.

It is a melliferous plant.

The sowing period for golden chain tree seeds is in May.
Start by soaking the seeds in lukewarm water for 3 to 4 hours then sow in a box of fine potting soil 5 millimeters deep.
Then water gently with a hand sprayer.
Finally, place the culture in a greenhouse until the seedlings are 15 to 25 cm high.

Germination usually takes 4 to 6 weeks.
Finally, transplant your plant into garden.
