Ma-huang or Ephedra sinica is a plant of the Ephedraceae family.
He is from China and Siberia.
The branches of Ephedra are angular and thin.
Its flowers are yellow, its fruits are red.
Ma-huang seeds are brown, they resemble those of sea buckthorn.

Ephedra sinica is the origin of several medicines against colds and fever.
It has been used in Chinese medicine for over 5,000 years and some people think that it could be originally with the Hops of the famous ethnic drink.

Both Ephedra sinica and Ephedra fragilis are still widely used against asthma, allergies, colds and fever.

The alkaloid contained in ephedra is the same as that contained in Sida cordifolia and rhombifolia.
