More info

Leonotis nepetifolia, also known as klip dagga, wild dagga or lion's ear, is a species of plant in the genus Leonotis and the family Lamiaceae.
While most other species in this genus are native to southern Africa, Leonotis nepetifolia is native to tropical Africa and southern India.
Klip dagga can also be found growing abundantly in some parts of Mexico.
Wild dagga grows to a height of 3 metres and has whorls of striking lipped flowers, that are most commonly orange.

Leaves of klip dagga or Leonotis nepetifolia were smoked by the Hottentot tribe of its euphoric effect.
The main active alkaloid is leonurine.
In traditional African medicine, wild dagga has been used as a part of many different treats.
