Red monarda or scarlet beebalm is a perennial 60 to 80 cm high which belongs to the Lamiaceae family.
It is grown for its leaves and flowers, which are made into tea in Pennsylvania.
Its seeds are small, black in color and resemble those of lemon balm.

Among Native Americans, its leaves macerated in oil were used for hair care.
Its leaves contain an antiseptic, thymol, which serves multiple purposes.

Scarlet beebalm plant 10 to 20 cm high, delivered in a plug with a good root system.
Upon receipt, transplant it into a 3 liter pot with horticultural soil, remember to drain the bottom of the pot with clay balls.
Water copiously when planting then place it in a sunny location.
It is also possible to cultivate it directly in the ground in a shaded place or even in full sun.
